Good morning, Kellers! First things first: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MEGAN!!! She turns 23 years old today!

Last evening, Larry and I chose our first recipe from the Keller Family Cookbook. This weekend, we will be making Lisa’s Fresh Peach Cobbler on page 53! This recipe couldn’t be more perfect for right now! There are peaches in all the stores, and the farmers’ markets are full of them. Our farmers’ market is on Sunday, which is too late for me, and assumes that the peaches there will be perfect to bake with the same day. Both the Norwegian and the OCD in me know that I must buy the peaches sooner than that, so they’ll be their most flavorful by baking day, Sunday. The recipe I usually use for Peach Cobbler has cinnamon in it, and I have seen others also use nutmeg. Lisa’s recipe has neither of those, which should make the peach flavor much more pure. That is actually how I make my peach preserves/jam. I’m really looking forward to tasting Lisa’s Peach Cobbler and can’t wait to tell you all about it! If you have any conversations, experiences, or memories regarding any of this or anything else, please post them. Now, let’s begin!

Happy birthday to Megan! 23! Cade Keller turned 24 yesterday! I love this idea Kari and I hope that everyone has time to participate here and there. I have fond memories of peach cobbler from camping with our family and our dear friends from Long Beach every summer, we did this we met up in Yosemite. Our friend Marc would make peach cobbler in a Dutch oven over the fire. It was the most delicious dessert I ever had camping. I knew it was a simple recipe with a box cake mix, and canned peaches. I even took it on a few Keller family trips up to the mountains when we were skiing. And did it in the crockpot. Jenna and I were just talking about making peach cobbler yesterday. Since we’re talking about birthdays, one fun tradition we’ve had all the years as parents James and I have created really cool unique cakes that were relevant to the birthday theme. Of course James was always traveling and promised that he would be home in time to make the cakes. I usually had to find the decorations and the design and bake the cake ahead of time. He would then come in finish frosting, sculpting and creating a masterpiece for the birthday party. We made a cake with a campfire on it for Cade yesterday as he’s entering his second year with Cal fire.
    Love, Ciana

Those are great memories, Ciana! Don’t you love how food tastes in a Dutch oven over a fire when you’re camping? It never seems to taste as good anywhere else, no matter how you make it! Happy Birthday to Cade and congratulations on finishing your first year at CalFire! Boy, what a first year you had!!! We’re so proud of you! Love, Auntie kari
